Aftermarket ECU wiring
« on: July 24, 2018, 05:11:10 PM »
Man Ive seen some nasty over done wire jobs with 29 relays and a 92 fuses with higher thermal capacity than the fuse or fusible link that is already in the circuit.
Maybe this will come in handy.

Your gonna need the oem engine harness and ECI relay.

Dont be a dumbass like me and cut the harness or your gonna end up soldering for no reason! Locate the connections that you want to reuse.
I typically strip down the harness on the ecu side and intake side.
I reuse (if serviceable)
A/C harness
Starter Harness
Distributor pigtail (i cut the about a foot back)
B-38 to ECI harness (do not cut wires that run direct between the 2 connectors)

Here are the eci pinouts aswell as how to de-pin B38.
I dump all the extra wires off the B38 with exception to the wires headed to ECI relay and Oil Pressure (Yellow) and water temp (Yellow/blue).

When cutting your wires keep in mind that you want to stagger your splices, so I leave about a foot of wire for me to work with. Remember do not cut the wires connecting B-38 to ECI relay.
ECI Relay pinout
TOP ROW
Black-12v constant from battery-do not cut
Red-12v ECU power-cut
Black/Red-12v Injector power-cut
Black/White-12v to fuel pump-do not cut

BOTTOM ROW
Blue-12v sw “ON”- do not cut
Black/Yellow-12v sw “START”-do not cut
Black-ground-cut
White/Red-fuel pump sig from ECU-cut

Should look similar to this once finished. Unless your being impatient and not thinking like me, then it will have repairs on it.... 😬
